Instead of making a ton of New Years Resolutions that you probably won’t keep, here are five healthy habits that can help you look and feel better through 2019!
Even if you don’t tackle them all at once, just pick one and for 7 days incorporate it into your daily routine. Then the next week, add another and so forth. Strengthen your discipline muscle the easy way rather than setting yourself up to fail when you give up on all of them because it is too hard.

DRINK MORE WATER
You here it all the time, drink more water! Most of us do not drink enough to enjoy the benefits of drinking plenty of water everyday. Flushing out toxins, hydrating the skin and increasing energy are just a few of the benefits of drinking plenty of water.
If you struggle to drink enough water due to the taste or lack thereof, try adding a slice of citrus and letting it infuse, or try the new Twinings cold water infuser bags that turn your boring cup of water into a tasty cold tea.
SLASH THE SUGAR
Sugar consumption is one of the biggest triggers for inflammation and disease in the human body, but so many of us are totally addicted to it. It does not help that so many processed foods, even those that are savory in taste have sugar added to them.
Giving up sugar is no different to dealing with an addiction and the withdrawal symptoms can be very annoying. If you don’t think you have the will power to completely live without sugar (what is life without at least a little chocolate??) at least make a conscious effort to cut back and include more sugar free items in your daily consumption.
FOCUS ON FRESH
The easiest way to improve your health and wellbeing is to focus on increasing the amount of food you eat that is fresh and not from a packet.
You will have so many more nutrients and anti-oxidants enter your body and will be reducing the chemical intake, which all-in-all will improve digestion and how you feel.
Try and eat as much of the fresh foods raw if possible or only lightly cooked if need be. The warmer weather makes this easy as a salad is a quick and easy to prepare on a hot day and in winter look at making soups that are full of vegetables. Try and consume 5 serves of vegetables and 2 serves of fruit each day which is the recommended daily amount for better health.
Stress and overwork seem to be the norm these days as we all have so much we need to get done each day.
It might be worth considering getting a helping hand to deal with stress from the vitamin section at the supermarket. Adding a regular dose of Magnesium and B Group vitamins can help your body deal with stress and muscular tension and can make a real difference in how you feel.

Keeping your body moving is one of the best things you can do for your health and fitness. Whether you walk up and down the hallway, around the block or hike up a mountain, just try to incorporate some sort of walking into your weekly routine, preferably every single day.
Each week see if you can increase the amount you do so that you walk at least 10000 steps per day which is the recommended amount of steps for better health….and then you can always try to jog or run as your fitness level increases.
