Five Fun Ways To Get Wet In And Around Perth

When Perth turns on a nice day (which happens a lot) there are plenty of fun ways to get wet that will make for a great day out.

Yanchep Lagoon is a picturesque beach located only 56km from the heart of Perth. Crystal clear water and soft sand are the perfect combination for a day of fun in the sun. There is a café 500m from the beach if you want a snack or something more substantial or there is a variety of restaurants close by. If you have had enough sun for one sitting, why not head underground to the Yanchep Limestone Cave and be totally mesmerised by the stunning formations nature has created.

A beautiful way to cool off is to visit the natural splendor of Serpentine Falls that are located 55km SE of Perth. The National Park is open everyday, so pack up a picnic lunch and spend the day splashing in the cool, fresh water. There is an abundance of native wildlife that you might encounter and if you visit between July and November you will also be treated to a spectacular display of wild flowers. There is a food van onsite on the weekends so make sure you have a little cash with you incase you feel like a little treat.

This is expansive dam is a catchment for water supply to surrounding areas, but it is also a recreation park that allows for safe swimming.  Pack a picnic or make use of the BBQ facilities that are available for all visitors.  The area is well known for its prolific bird life, so take a walk and see what interesting ones you can spot.

This is the perfect spot if you have kids that enjoy the water. Only 7km from the city centre, this aquatic playground features 4 pools, gardens, shady areas for relaxing, a playground and a mini golf course. All of the pools are shallow so that makes them safe for littlies and you can keep your eye on them easily. It certainly would not be hard to fill the day here.

A visit to Perth should include a day out in famous Fremantle. Only 30 mins from the CBD, and is a hub of all things arty and yummy. Bathers Beach will help you get your fill of sand and sun and then you can stroll through markets, shops, galleries or why not have some yummy fish and chips in whilst enjoying the beautiful water setting of Fishing Boat Harbour….maybe you should allow two days to take it all in.
