5 Fun Things To Do In Melbourne In Summer!

Melbourne is blessed with lots of beautiful beaches and spending the day exploring them will make for a fun day out. Here are 5 that should definitely be on your to-do list.

A sunny Sunday is the best day to visit this iconic beach area. Not only can you spend the day at the beautiful beach, take a big walk along the Esplanade, eat the most amazing cakes at Acland Street, you can also enjoy shopping for artisan gifts and souvenirs. After you have eaten all the good food and shopped to your hearts content why not venture in to Luna Park for a ride or 10! Only 15 km from the CBD, hop on a tram to drop right into the heart of the action.

Only 23km from Melbourne CBD is the beautiful Beaumaris beach that is a safe swimming spot for all the family. Spend the morning or afternoon having a lovely swim and head into the local shopping area for some lovely boutiques and fabulous restaurants.

It is quite common for the weather in Melbourne to forget that it is summer. When it is a bit chilly, then heading to a traditional style Japanese bathhouse for a lovely way to warm up. Located in the heart of Melbourne it is easy to spend a few hours dipping in the pools and then add a Shiatsu massage or a foot massage for complete relaxation.

Brighton beach is famous for its collection of colourful beach huts that are prime real estate. They make for some great photo opportunities as you enjoy swimming at this beautiful beach. Only 15km from the CBD there is a train service that will drop you right in the heart of this suburb. There is lots of great restaurants and cafes for when you decide you are hungry. What is a day at the beach without fish and chips? Pick up lunch from one of Melbourne’s best fish and chipperies, Fish Tank and enjoy eating them admiring the great view.

This is one location that really has something for everyone. There is a surf beach or family safe Cowes beach. Explore rock pools or marvel at natures spectacular blow hole at the Nobbies. At dusk get up close to gorgeous fairy penguins as they head up the beach for the night. There are lots of great places to eat when hunger sets in after all that time in the fresh air. It is about a 2 hour drive from the CBD so to make the most of all the wonderful things available, staying overnight could be a good option.
